Baby Cradle

Remember how I babbled about not wanting to buy a baby cot or playpen before? Hahaha shoved it to my face! I was influenced by my mother after seeing a seemingly beautiful and girly cradle at Pyramid last week and finally bought it without much thinking, and to tell you the truth, I kinda like it. No, it's more to I love it! A lot! Guilty as charged.

There's a change of plan for my confinement actually hence the purchase for this cradle. I decided to stay at my parents' house after giving birth next month so that means, my mom will take care of me during the whole 44 days of confinement period. And since I'll be living temporarily at the guest room downstairs, I guess I should buy a separate bedding for my baby since the room only has a single bed. I can't possibly squeeze in my baby with me on the same single bed at night time, right? It could be harmful because of the limited space, especially to the baby. And this led me being talked into buying this cradle for our own ease later.

I bought the cradle in Jusco Sunway Pyramid. It's from Sweet Cherry. I think, this product is available at most Jusco outlets or you can always purchase it online from their website. Priced at RM219, it comes in 2 colors. Checked light brown and light green polka dotted. I bought the light green one as the color is more universal and can be used for both sexes. The cradle has 4-wheels which can be converted into rocking or maneuvering positions. It's also compact when folding so it saves space when not in use and has quite a large compartment at the bottom part. The plus point is it comes with a built-in mosquito net to protect the baby when sleeping. Owh, the design is oh-so-classic too, I like!

Fisher Price Rocker: FINALLY!

I've been eyeing this green frame rocker from Fisher Price Precious Planet's range since God-knows-when (yeah, dramatic!). Ever since I'm pregnant, I've always wanted to buy this for my baby because of its color and functionality. See, color comes first. It shows that I'm only attracted to its design so much whereas practicality comes second. Hahaha!

Anyway, what raised my interest for this rocker is it can be used right from infant to toddler. It folds easily which makes it portable and has reclining position to suit newborn babies. It also comes with hanging toys and calming vibrations (battery operated) to soothe her. When the baby grows older, it can be converted into a rocking chair, so it really is multipurpose!

This rocker comes in two colors which is blue and green. Blue is the older version while green is the new color. Of course, I've been attracted to the green color since forever. But most online shops only sell the blue color ones at half the price (only RM190! *dies*) while the price for the green color remains the same, at RM349 or cheapest, at RM299 after discount. This is frustrating as I don't intend to spend so much on a plastic rocker, no matter how good does it look or which brand name that it carries.

So I decided to just dump the idea of buying this rocker and hoping that someone is kind enough to give me this as a baby gift. And that's when I stumbled on Malyn's post, where she opened a spree to buy this green frame rocker at only RM195! Hoorayyyyyy! I e-mailed her right away, placed a deposit and after roughly around 2 weeks, I finally received the rocker. All in good shape and working order.

When Malyn e-mailed me saying that the rocker has arrived, I was soooooooo excited and decided to self-collect at Putrajaya because I just can't wait for the delivery. Many thanks to Malyn and her husband for going thru the hassle of handling and passing orders for this rocker. And the best part is, I've finally bought my dream rocker at a much cheaper price! Yeayyyyyyy!

Children's Vapor Balm

Thank you so much to my readers for the many suggestions regarding my previous post here, where I blogged about baby care items. Yes, being a first time mother, I need to learn a lot and there are so many things that I need to be aware of, especially for newborn babies.

I never knew there's a separate balm for babies where all this while, I thought Vicks is good enough to be put on babies whenever they have cold or flu. After doing some reading and based on some recommendations, I decided to ditch the usual blue tab Vicks from my baby care list and bought a new one which is safe for newborns.

And since I love online shopping so much, I bought this balm thru 21st Century's website. Yes, they do offer online shopping and free shipping for their products. This is such a  good news since I don't have to go to the pharmacy to buy their products anymore.

This balm is Camphor-free and suitable to be used on babies. It has a sweet strawberry smell and is pink in color, perfect for children. Of course, this product is available in most pharmacies but if you're too lazy like me, you can opt for online shopping. Trust me, it's much much more convenient!

Co-Sleeping With Baby

I think it's normal, especially in Asian countries, where newborns sleep on the same bed with their parents. I myself have planned to have my baby to co-sleep with me during her early months. I don't buy any baby cot or playpen for my baby because I am planning to have her to sleep on my bed during night time. Since my husband's work of nature requires him to be out of town most of the time, I think co-sleeping with her should be no problem.

Of course, we've heard of a few mishaps and unfortunate incidents where babies were found dead while co-sleeping, mostly because of suffocation due to being accidentally squashed by the parent. It was a tragic, really. I am fully aware on the consequences of having a tiny baby to sleep with me at night so I decided to buy an appropriate and suitable sleeper which is safe for the baby.

This is sufficient enough to be used during her early days on my bed. It comes with a soft night light for you to check on the baby anytime while she sleeps.

So what happens when the baby outgrows the sleeper? Isn't it going to be a waste since you'll be using it for, let's say, just for a month tops?

Yeah, I've thought about it too and still, I'm not making any plans to buy her a proper cot or playpen because I can always borrow from my relatives. And I planned to furnish the baby's nursery with a proper bed and furniture which have longer lifespan. So there, please don't make me spend my money and buy a baby cot or playpen for the baby because I won't. Butttttttt, there's always a but. It's a totally different story if you decided to buy me a playpen as a gift. Will be more than happy to receive it! Hehehe!

Stroller Search: SOLVED!

A few weeks back I posted the dilemma of choosing the right car for my baby. Being a first-time mom, I didn't know much about good strollers, for example in terms of weight, folding options and reclining positions. All I know are the basic things and make sure everything is all pretty. Hahaha typical me!

After reading feedback and hearing some suggestions from other people, especially experienced parents, I have narrowed down my search and my choice of stroller must firstly, fit my Myvi car bonnet. Myvi is known to have a compact bonnet thus when I went out the other day to buy the stroller, I drove my car to make sure it compels to the limited space.

Secondly, the stroller must be easy to fold and unfold, especially by me when it comes to events where I'm alone with the baby with no helping hands. My choice of folding position is umbrella fold, so it's compact and easy to handle without having to dismantle any parts.

Thirdly, it should be reasonably lightweight and not exceeding 10kg, or at least can be lifted by me without much pressure and panting for breath. I have a fear for a very light stroller thinking that it could easily collapse when you put your shopping bag/diaper bag by the handle. Yes, I saw one incident like that before and thank God no baby was harmed during that time.

Fourth and finally, the stroller must be easy to manoeuvre and it has approved safety characteristics, this include belt, folding parts, brakes, handles and tyres, just to name a few. The stroller should be just nice for me and husband to handle, and not too big until it blocks my front view. It should have a fully reclining position too, which is suitable to use from birth.

After stating those details, I went ahead and begun my search for the appropriate stroller that meets my core requirements. And after much sweat and tedious search, I finally made up my mind and came home with a Techno XLR from Maclaren.

I bought this stroller at Isetan One Utama. The retail price is rm1600 but currently they have a 40% discount  on most Maclaren models so I got to buy my dream car at RM959 only. Thank God it's still within the budget and doesn't exceed 1k. Still, it can't beat what Nadya and Syima grabbed during the baby carnival at a much cheaper price. They don't have much colors available in store (my fave are purple or pink!). What's left are black & champagne, brown & soft blue and persian red. Red is a total turn off and I never really fancy red strollers whilst the black & champagne color combo is plain dull and not attractive at all. So I opted for the soft blue since it's not too girly and still acceptable by both genders.

The stroller comes with a personal tag, plastic rain cover, quilted removable/washable padded lining and headrest in matching color. The SA was really helpful and taught me a lot about the stroller including its safety mechanism. I spent quite some time learning how to fold and unfold the stroller, what this and that do, test drive the stroller (yes!) including the brakes and all, adjusting handles, removing the covers and so on. And so far, I am satisfied with my purchase because I've been eyeing this stroller for some time and was lucky to be able to grab this during sales period.

On the cons, this stroller isn't really lightweight but it's not that heavy too. I guess it's just an average, weighing at 7kg, I can still lift it up slowly even when I'm heavily 8 months pregnant now. It takes up most of the space in my Myvi bonnet, ngam ngam je muat (I have to throw the packaging box in order to fit the stroller) but you can still stash in 5 shopping bags altogether and place them on top of the stroller so it's no biggie. Apart from this two, I can't really fault this stroller as so far, it's the best.

Now, let's just hope my baby will like the stroller as much as I do!

Toiletries For Baby

There are a lot of baby care products in the market out there and sometimes, it gives me headache in choosing what's good (if not best) for my baby. Since I'm a first time mom, I received many suggestions from friends saying that newborns should use organics products during their early years since their skin is very delicate and prone to itchiness and rashes.

I'm tempted to use organics products for my baby then, and decided to just buy them online seeing that I no longer able to roam the malls like I used to before. Fatigue caught me most of the time, especially during this last trimester. So it's best if I just stay at home and wait for the items to be delivered to me safely.

Okay, back to the topic.

Most organics products, especially for newborns are quite expensive. But I went ahead and for the time being, I just bought the trial pack to see whether the products are suitable for my baby or not. Yeah, buying trial/travel pack doesn't cost you much and at least, it didn't go to waste if the products don't suit your baby. As for my baby, I bought two brands for her after some recommendations from friends.

The well-known Buds organics for baby. These aren't actually for newborns, they have another range targeted specially to newborns but I guess these would do since they were made for infants. This set is priced at RM39.90 consisting of cleanser, cream and nappy cream.

Bubchen is originated from Germany, a recommended products from dermatologists and is widely used in Europe. These products were made from natural ingredients. This travel pack is priced at RM12.90 inclusive of nappy cream, shampoo, baby bath and lotion.

I bought all these at Little Whiz and received the products the next day after payment. What a relief because I have finally settled the baby toiletries dilemma and one of these can finally go into her hospital bag.

Shopping: My Theraphy

I have a gazillion posts waiting to be published in this blog actually but lately, time is taking its toll on me. Apart that I'm being extremely lazy to compose for my blog, I wasn't feeling very well too. Boohoo!

Wait, is it just me or the weather is really, extremely hot lately? Being at 7 months now, I really can't bear the heat and sweat most of the time, even at night. :(

Ok, back to the story. Since it was freaking hot all week, we, I meant me and hubby, decided to go to some colder place to skip the humidity. No no no, we didn't go to Genting if that's what you're thinking of. We can just think of malls and somewhere near and finally headed to Alamanda after haven't been there for quite some time. I just realized that they have a few of new tenants added to the list. As usual, I decided to have a look at the Mothercare outlet. My initial plan is to buy some baby stuffs according to the checklist, seeing that it's almost complete and decided to just wait until next week. But the tempatation is high and I ought to purchase at least a thing for the baby.

Finally I bought the Aden+Anais swaddle blanket. In a set of four, priced at RM109. Been eyeing this for quite sometime from One Baby World and the last time I went to their website to purchase, the items were all sold out. Frustrated you know because they sell these very cheap! So I vented my addiction to Mothercare for the swaddle wraps. They have a selection of prints to choose from and I decided to take the blue colored dots, stars and stripes, because IMHO, the others are plain boring.

Changing pad for the baby. I just bought a cheap one, after a recommendation from my dear cousin. Priced at RM40. I wanted to grab this since their GP Sale, but was hesitated to buy at first because I've bought the normal, square changing mat for the baby already. But heck, who cares since I'm easily influenced and bought this in the end. Hihihi.

Since I started working after a loooooooooooong break, I noticed that I can't fit into my working pants anymore, of course. I'm working with a uniformed agency and it's hard to find pants in navy color. Thus I decided to still wear my old pants with the help of belly belt, where it expands the waistline so I don't feel snuggish around the tummy area and can still wear my other normal pants/jeans with ease. I bought this at Little Whiz, discounted price at RM71.90. Howeverrrrrrrr, I just found a cheaper option at My Baby Shop, selling this at RM63.92. Grrrrrrrr!!!

Oh oh oh, on a totally unrelated news, I came home to my small soon-to-be garden and just realized that the carpet grass has grown into full force from the last time we planted them. Happy!

Okay, now it'll take prolly 3 months (or more) for the grass to fully covered the soil. I wish I have my mom's green hands. Everything she touches grows into beauty. My next plan, to grow some lavenders along the border. Wish me luck!

Infant Baju Kurung

Ok. I know I can't never get enough of baby stuffs. Call me crazy because you know what, I bought these adorable baju kurung online without much thinking and then I totally forgot about it, not until the parcel arrived at my doorstep two days later. Yes, I forgot about my own purchase which was made just a couple of days ago! How could this be? This is a chronic symptom of a shopaholic! Aaaggggggggg!!!!

Anyhoo, I think these are tooooooooooo cute to be passed on and I started adding them into my shopping cart, on the dot. Plus, they're on sale! SALE! Eventho it's not much but still, you can have them at discounted price. Hahaha. By the way, this can be a great gift-giving for my friend too who just delivered a baby girl. Hewhewhew, alasan nak shopping semata.

On the other hand, we came home yesterday and saw a notice from Poslaju, requesting me to self-collect my parcel at their branch. Husband just shrugged off and didn't comment much. So the next day, I went to the collection center and picked up my parcel.

So now, I can safely say that the baby's Raya collection is absolutely done and over. Should start concentrating for mummy's stuffs now.

B.Box - The Essential Baby Box

I guess I'm allowed to buy some non-essential items for the baby, seeing that I've completed most of the important items on my checklist. Hahaha.

I'm in love with this diaper wallet actually. A very well-known product in Australia, this nappy wallet is very practical and most importantly, fits into your handbag in a jiffy. It has a compartment to store your baby wipes, a holder to put a diaper or two and comes with a matching printed changing mat. What attracts me to this is its bright colors.

Comes in a variety of hues and prints to suit your liking.

I knew this one shop in Bangsar Village that sells B.Box items. I always love Bangsar Village, for its wide range of international baby brands. But of course, price is a bit unforgiving if you plan to buy them at the local store. So I opted to google research and decided to buy this nappy wallet online, since I don't have the will to go to the mall just to buy a nappy wallet. Headbands

The advantage of having a girl is you're allowed to accessorize your baby to the top. Hahaha!

I love seeing bald babies or little girls in a cute headband. They instantly look cute. But I don't personally like those big chunk of flower on top of the baby's head, it looks like a pile of garden is planted on the top. Hahaha please don't get offended. This is just my humble opinion.

I reckon, most headbands (online or offline) are retailed at around RM10 and above, depends on the design itself. But I found one online shop selling cute headbands at the cheapest price ever. Wheeeeeee! Eventho they're selling cheap but they don't compromise on the quality. I still think it's of a good one.

I'm sooooo happy with the headbands because they're uber pretty but I noticed the colors I chose are too girly. Then I decided to place the second order, this time with more mundane colors or at least, something to match with the outfits.

 A Faded Glory dress from Brands Outlet and a pair of ballerina flats from Teeny Tots. I love how this dress completes the look if worn together with the zebra headband that I purchased earlier. Wheeeeee!

JJ Cole Collections: Diapers & Wipes Caddy

I was tempted to buy diapers stacker at first, because of its many fun fabrics and practicality. Plus, you can customize your own diapers stacker to your liking and they have different sizes according to your needs. But then I realized that they do look pretty but I need something more than that. I want something to put in the diapers together with all the baby care items (diaper cream, powder, lotion, etc), all in one place and mobile.

I stumbled upon JJ Cole's diaper caddy on the net one day, and was hooked since then. Whenever I went out, I will, without fail, look for it in any departmental stores and baby outlets. Of course, I found some but the price is something to ponder on first things first. Hahaha!

They have different versions and colors available. You can choose stripes, solid colors or dots for the caddy. More can be found on its website.

Retailed at RM139, I knew for good that I don't need to waste so much on something to just put in the baby's diapers. But you know me, I will find such item at the best price whenever I've set my eyes on it. I finally bought one at My BBStore upon seeing that they're having a really good bargain during sales period.

As usual, I bought something in universal color scheme which is brown stripes. Priced at RM99, this sturdy and lightweight diapers caddy meets my expectations. Yeayyyyy!

Love the size of the caddy and the bottom compartment too! It comes with a matching changing mat, placed at the back pocket of the caddy.

I personally think this item is useful because you can stash everything in one place and it can be carried around. With its size, I think this is a really good bargain for the baby's nursery.
